Exploratory Semiconductor Device Research Unit

KEYWORDS

  • Energy efficient device
  • Spintronics
  • Semiconductor quantum wire
  • Spin based semiconductor device using quantum wires

Conventional electronics process information by utilizing the electric charge of electronics. Electrons also have another property known as spin. By using the spin state, it is expected to realize exploratory semiconductor device that overcomes the limitations of conventional electronics. In this research unit, we aim to enhance the performance of spin devices and explore novel functions by using quantum wire structures with different properties from bulk structures. We aim to establish fundamental technologies for spintronics by developing fabrication techniques for germanium quantum wires and by evaluating spin properties in these quantum wires.
