Research on disaster evacuation simulation has been selected as “Best Presentation Award” in ICICIC2021

Research on disaster evacuation simulation, by the group led by Prof. Hirotaka Takahashi who is a member of Center for Space Science and Data Driven Design Research Unit of Institute for Future City Studies, in Advanced Research Laboratories, has been selected as “Best Presentation Award” in the 15th International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control (ICICIC2021), Online, September 15-16, 2021.

As Social Networking Services (SNSs) have become widespread in recent years, it has become possible to collect information from and broadcast it to an unspecified number of people with ease. In particular, in the case of disasters, information regarding safety confirmation, damage status, and evacuation sites is frequently exchanged. In our research [1], we design a disaster evacuation simulation that takes into account the exchange of information on evacuation sites, transmission of false information including rumor, and fact-checking information by SNS. Furthermore, we investigate the effect of the transmission of false information and fact-checking information on the disaster evacuation behavior.

In our series of research on disaster evacuation simulation, we also share the results and data to related parties. We would like to continue our research, share the results and data as the materials for consideration to make better decisions.
